ABOUT ME
The shimmering light of the stages have always made me dream. As a kid I secretly felt the joy of being a stage person, while playing alone in my room under imaginary scenarios where I poured my art through my body, in acting, moving. Unfortunately, this dream has always felt so far away from me due to the fact of being born black, poor and queer in a third world country. But somehow, something shifted in me when I understood that regardless of my so-called weaknesses, I had the power to dare. To dare thriving beyond the conditions I was born in and to go further, daring to win regardless of all odds, is my talent.
And so, I dared to start dancing, resulting in my trailblazing carreer in the ballroom community in Switzerland and in the Europeand Scene; I dared to perform and to use my voice, turning myself in a resident performer in one of the biggest theatres in Central Europe and also initiating my own performance producing agency - Tropikahlismus; I dared to host events and i am proudly one of the most known hosts in queer/trans inclusive events in the German Speaking region of Switzerland; I dared to produce and create spaces for me and people that resonates with the power of daring. And now I headline and help manage Fundraiser Galas for trans people in the TSEF and work with the most important producers of LGBTQIA+ events in the country.
By daring I realised how unique I was transforming myself into and how I could be an important agent of change for those who felt like me but didn't know how to. Through my art, I keep challenging not only myself but the public. I dare and I challenge the public to love me (or to even hate me), to think outside of the box, to keep thinking about me, openly or secretly alone in their rooms, asking themselves if they could do the same, daring them to come out and try it. And as a mentor of underprivileged communities, I am more than happy when I realise I have awakened other voices like mine through my art on stage. because quoting Tori Morrisoon: "When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else."
